North American F-86D/K/L/F-95A Sabre Dog | 52-3900 | FU-900

Operator
440th FIS, 86th FIW, USAF
Aircraft model
F-86D-45-NA

The 440th FIS saw several different marking changes throughout its life with the F-86D. This particular scheme was one of the ones worn by the unit in Europe and consists of yellow and black rays on the tail, with the 440th unit emblem near the top. The three fuselage stripes are outlined in black. P.S.: Ross Heitzmann man who was in 440 FIS since December 1955 to December 1957 has mailed me: the color of the rays on the tails of the F-86Ds were black and orange, not black and yellow.
