Kolomea, USSR (today Ukraine), July 1941. The first days of the anti-Soviet war saw the CR.42s of the 2/II Vadasz-osztaly from Nyiregyhaza flying offensive sweeps over USSR border territory. Lt.Hadnagy Laszlo Kazars' aircraft (V.267) was damaged by enemy ground fire (Soviet fighters?) and repaired with patches done in the shape of small white stars. Curiously, the fuselage codes on this machine were applied in yellow, with only the letter 'V' painted in contrasting red over the yellow fuselage identification band.
