Hungary, early 1942. By 1942, all the remaining CR.42s of 1/II and 2/II Vadasz-osztaly had been relegated to the fighter training role, away from the frontline. Unlike the earlier CR.32s, most CR.42s were delivered already camouflaged in a number of different Italian schemes. In this case a Marrone Mimetico 1 mottling over a Verde Mimetico 1 base with light blue-grey (?) undersides, much favoured by the Fiat works. The red fuselage codes have also been partially overpainted with a green colour to render them less visible.
