Kassa, Hungary (today Kosice, Slovakia), early 1941. This aircraft, wearing the famous 'Ace of Hearts' squadron insignia, has received a German inspired three-tone splinter camouflage. The fuselage codes were also painted in black following Luftwaffe practice. The squadron insignia has been applied directly to the fuselage under the cockpit without its usual red-and-white surround.
