In this plane 1st Lt. Dagoberto Godoy cross the Andes Mountains for first time in 12 December 1918, landing near Mendoza in Argentine. In Chile the Bristol M.1C was nicknamed 'Bristol Bala' (Bristol Bullet) by the Chilean pilots due its high speed in climbing and level flight.
