Six HAL HJT-16 Kiran Mk.II aircraft of INAS 551, form the Indian Navy's own Saagar Pawan aerobatic team, similar to the IAF's Surya Kirans . However, unlike the latter, the Saagar Pawans perform only on rare occasions as the aircraft also need to cater to the armament training role of the squadron. The 'done up' blue and white scheme is a standard service scheme, always worn by the aircraft, irrespective of the occasion. Previously, these aircraft wore polished metal, with a light blue tail, sporting the squadron's 'Phantom' emblem.
