The Cuban contingent deployed to Angola in late 1975 included also 12 MiG-21MFs. These were stationed at Luanda IAP, and became operational in early 1976. Interestingly, although only reports about their air-to-ground operations are known, all the photographs show them with rails for R-3S (AA-2 Atoll) missiles. Of interest is also the camouflage pattern on the fin: it is possible that the two large fields of Dark Olive Green were used as an identification marking - then these MiGs wore no national insignia or any other markings except their 'bort' numbers! Sadly, no details about camouflage or markings of MiG-21F-13s supplied directly from the USSR are known yet.
