Unknown location, USSR (?), June 1941. A number of Hungarian Fiat CR.42s took an active part in the early fighting against the Soviet Union. The yellow tail and engine cowling of this CR.42 has been overpainted with grey to tone down the aircraft for operations over Russia during the summer of 1941. The red fuselage codes have also been oversprayed with a green colour. It also appears that the unit insignia on the fuselage has been partially oversprayed to tone down its white background. The red-and-white surround previously applied to the later seems to have been altogether deleted by this period.
